Garbage Disposal Repair & Installation in Fort Worth

Won't run, jammed, leaking, slow drain. We troubleshoot, fix what's fixable, and install new units when it's time.

About This Service

Garbage disposals are simple machines, but they fail often — and most failures look more dramatic than they are. We diagnose disposal issues quickly: jammed (often a single fix), tripped breaker (usually the reset button), failed motor (replacement time), or a leak. Repair when it's fixable, replace when it's not.

What We Do

Garbage Disposal — what's included.

Jammed disposal

Free the impeller with a hex wrench (free fix). If something's actually wedged in there, we extract it.

Won't run at all

Tripped overload switch, failed switch, bad wiring, or dead motor — we narrow it down in minutes.

Leaking disposal

Could be the sink flange, the dishwasher connection, the drain elbow, or the housing. Repair vs. replace depends on the source.

Slow drain through disposal

Often a clogged trap or drain line, not the disposal itself.

Disposal replacement

When the motor's gone or the housing leaks, replace. We install ½-, ¾-, and 1-hp units from InSinkErator, Waste King, Moen, and others.

New disposal install (no previous unit)

Adding a disposal where none existed — requires switch wiring and a dishwasher knockout if applicable.

Air switch installation

Counter-mounted air switch instead of a wall switch — useful for islands and counters without nearby outlets.

Removal of failed disposals

Sometimes the right answer is no disposal at all — we can remove it and replace with a standard sink drain.

Why Paloma

What sets us apart on this service.

Fix before replace

Most disposal problems aren't motor failures — they're jams, switches, or wiring. We try the cheap fix first.

Brands you've heard of

InSinkErator, Waste King, Moen — we install what's reliable and has parts available. No off-brand surprises.

Honest about disposal vs. no disposal

Disposals aren't for every kitchen. If you don't actually use yours, we can remove it and simplify your plumbing.

FAQ

Garbage Disposal questions.

My disposal hums but doesn't spin. What's wrong?
Almost always a jammed impeller. Turn off the breaker, get a hex wrench (often included in the disposal box, ¼" standard), and turn the impeller from the bottom to free it. Then press the reset button on the bottom of the unit. If that doesn't work, call us.
My disposal won't turn on at all. Is it dead?
Maybe — but check the reset button on the bottom first (small red button). If that doesn't bring it back, the issue is the switch, wiring, or motor. We diagnose in person.
How long should a garbage disposal last?
Quality units: 10–12 years with normal use. Heavy use or running it without water cuts the lifespan significantly.
What's the difference between a ½ hp and ¾ hp disposal?
More horsepower handles tougher waste (fibrous vegetables, small bones, fruit pits) and jams less. For most kitchens, ½ hp is fine. For families that cook a lot or households that put more through the disposal, ¾ hp is worth the extra $40–80.
Can I run [X] through my disposal?
Avoid: grease/oil (lines clog downstream), fibrous foods (celery, corn husks, artichokes — wrap the impeller), starchy foods in volume (potato peels, pasta — turn into glue), eggshells in quantity, bones (most disposals can't handle them), coffee grounds in volume (build up in the trap).
